What does the BIBLE say about Capital Punishment
death penalty, execution, put to death
To all those who want to scream that the scriptures supporting the death penalty is Old Testament then let me remind you that the TEN COMMANDMENTS are also Old Testament so if you are going to throw out the laws of the Old Testament then you are left with little to live by. The new age religion has no problem with "God is love." God is harsh too. If you want to overlook the scriptures that bother you then you cannot call yourself a Christian because you are writing your own Bible.
Three Good Reasons for Supporting the Death Penalty
Writer: James L. Melton | MeltonLion@aol.com | 1997 | www.Biblebelievers.com/jmelton/punish.html
In the year 1993 alone, over 18,000 people were arrested for murder in the United States. Yet, in the past twenty years, there have been less than 300 executions. Today there are over 2,500 murderers on "death row", but less than fifty of them will be executed this year. That's 15,000 to 20,000 murders per year with less than fifty executions!
Although eighty percent of Americans still favor the death penalty, many are beginning to have second thoughts as the liberal establishment marches ahead with it's never-ending crusade against morality, freedom and justice.
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:20
For the few Americans who still believe that God's opinion is more valuable than anything any news network or politician has ever said, we'd like to present the straight honest Biblical facts about murder and capital punishment.
As you read the forthcoming words, please remain mindful of the fact that the words in bold type are not the words or interpretations of men, but they are rather the inspired words of Almighty God. You are expected (by God) to believe them.

The Death Penalty Honors God
The death penalty was first instituted by God Himself in Genesis 9:6:
Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
And whosoever will not do the law of thy God, and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily upon him, whether it be unto death, or to banishment, or to confiscation of goods, or to imprisonment. Ezra 7:26
Man didn't invent the death penalty, so man has no right to abandon it. We live in an age when everyone is far too concerned with "human rights", and God has been practically ignored, as if He had no rights at all.
God does have rights, and it is His right to do as He pleases with His own creation. Man is the highest form of life on this earth, created in God's own image, and crowned with glory and honor (Psalm 8:5For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.Psalm 8 verse 5). God has given man the MORAL DUTY to execute those who choose to take the lives of others. Exodus 21:12 says,
He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.
Do you wish to honor God? Then you must support the death penalty, because God commands it.
Someone says, "Well, that's just the Old Testament law. The New Testament doesn't support the death penalty." I beg your pardon!
Have you read Acts 25:11For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.Acts 25 verse 11?
Have you read Romans 13:1-4(verse 1) Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
(verse 2) Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
(verse 3) For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
(verse 4) For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil.Romans 13 verses 1-4? What about Revelation 13:10He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.Revelation 13 verse 10? Friend, God has never changed His law of Capital Punishment for murderers!
He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
If the death penalty is no longer in effect, then why is this verse even in the New Testament?
In Acts 25:11 the apostle Paul says,
For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.
