What does the BIBLE say about Judging Others
Judgment Begins at the House of God
(1 Peter 4:17-18(verse 17) For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God?
(verse 18) And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?1 Peter 4 verses 17-18)
Is 'Judging' biblical? Here is why we judge the house of God Ezekiel 3:16-21(verse 16) And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
(verse 17) Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.
(verse 18) When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
(verse 19) Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
(verse 20) Again, When a righteous [man] doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
(verse 21) Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous [man], that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.Ezekiel 3 verses 16-21 and Ezekiel 33 warns us to be WATCHMAN
Answering the Critics
(read also "I think it's wrong to say that God is going to judge us when we die.")
Criticism: Judge not (Matthew 7:1-5(verse 1) Judge not, that ye be not judged.
(verse 2) For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
(verse 3) And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
(verse 4) Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam [is] in thine own eye?
(verse 5) Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.Matthew 7 verses 1-5).
Answer: Judge within biblical parameters (Matthew 7:6, 15-16(verse 6) Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
(verse 15) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
(verse 16) Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?Matthew 7 verses 6, 15-16, Matthew 18:16-18(verse 16) But if he will not hear [thee, then] take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
(verse 17) And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell [it] unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
(verse 18) Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.Matthew 18 verses 16-18, John 7:24Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.John 7 verse 24, 1 Corinthians 5, 2 Timothy 4:10For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.2 Timothy 4 verse 10, 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22(verse 21) Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
(verse 22) Abstain from all appearance of evil.1 Thessalonians 5 verses 21-22, 1 John 4:1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.1 John 4 verse 1)
Criticism: You shouldn't name names.
Answer: The Apostle Paul did! (1 Timothy 1:18-20(verse 18) This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
(verse 19) Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:
(verse 20) Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.1 Timothy 1 verses 18-20, 2 Timothy 2:16-18(verse 16) But shun profane [and] vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
(verse 17) And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
(verse 18) Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.2 Timothy 2 verses 16-18, 2 Timothy 4:10For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.2 Timothy 4 verse 10)
Criticism: You're causing division in the church.
Answer: False doctrine causes division (Romans 16:17-18(verse 17) Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
(verse 18) For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.Romans 16 verses 17-18).
Criticism: Cannot deny signs and wonders.
Answer: Signs and wonders can be faked. They are lying signs and wonders (Matthew 24:24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.Matthew 24 verse 24)
Criticism: We should just follow Gamaliel's advice (Acts 5:34-42(verse 34) Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;
(verse 35) And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.
(verse 36) For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.
(verse 37) After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, [even] as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.
(verse 38) And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:
(verse 39) But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
(verse 40) And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten [them], they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
(verse 41) And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.
(verse 42) And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.Acts 5 verses 34-42).
Answer: 1. Gamaliel was not a believer, 2. False religions abound.
Criticism: Touch Not My Anointed! (Psalm 105:14-15(verse 14) He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;
(verse 15) [Saying], Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.Psalm 105 verse 14)
Answer: Take Not Scripture Out of Context! "Anointed ones" refers to the patriarchs and their descendants, not today's modern preachers. The word "touch" actually refers to physical harm; NOT speaking what is true (1 Samuel 26:9, 11, 23(verse 9) And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD'S anointed, and be guiltless?
(verse 11) The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD'S anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that [is] at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go.
(verse 23) The LORD render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness: for the LORD delivered thee into [my] hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the LORD'S anointed.1 Samuel 26 verses 9, 11, 23). Three New Testament passages refer to all Christians as "anointed" (2 Corinthians 1:21Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, [is] God.2 Corinthians 1 verse 21, 1 John 2:20, 27(verse 20) But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
(verse 27) But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.1 John 2 verses 20, 27).
Criticism: You're not loving.
Answer: The truth is love.
Criticism: Maybe they're wrong on a few things but they're so sincere!
Answer: Sincerity is not the issue - TRUTH is the issue!

Here are the reasons why we expose false teachers, false prophets, false doctrines and name names
Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. John 7:24
But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
2 Timothy 2:23-26 (NKJV)
(verse 23) But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
(verse 24) And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all [men], apt to teach, patient,
(verse 25) In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
(verse 26) And [that] they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.2 Timothy 2 (KJV) verses 23-26

- To Judge or Not to Judge
Why does the Bible say to judge in one verse and not to judge in another verse?
This is not about "liking" a person or not "liking" a person. Judging here is about judging the person's teaching and doctrine. How does it line up with the official Word of God.
The Bible is full of scriptures about judging and about exposing evil. There has been much misunderstanding about judging, and preachers are not preaching about it. Is the Bible contradicting? We read:
Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam [is] in thine own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. Matthew 7:1-5
