This means that personal prophecies are NOT OF GOD!
...Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 2 Peter 1:20
I think that these false prophets of today are a whole lot slicker than the Jim Jones of ages past. Far more masses of people are being deceived because satan has transformed himself into a Christian in order to take as many "professing" Christians with him as he can. Read When Christian Witches Attack You. Satanists and practicing witches have infiltrated the churches. Listen to David Wilkerson's message Witchcraft in the church.
I am convinced that the people who have trapped themselves within these cults have a demonic spell over them, and only the Lord can reach them with the truth.
Donnie Swaggart describes false prophets. Text excerpts below.
[False Prophets seek]...poor, gullible people that are in need who think they can BUY something when everything the Lord has is FREE...they run the gamit from that to those who are suave, sophisticated, well dressed, charming, pleasant sounding, easy on the eyes who EXUDE LOVE....one of the things that you will hear said by people ...that should be obvious... they are a false prophet is by WHAT they preach, but the thing you will hear over and over is that they are so loving. Love just oozes out of them. Well, what do you expect? Did you expect the devil to come walking down the isle with a pitchfork in one hand, a tail in the back and two horns? No, Satan comes and he infiltrates the church with individuals who have been UNHOLY ANOINTED, who exude a spirit of love, a spirit of compassion, a spirit of caring, a spirit and a attitude that makes people feel loved. All for the express cause, a reason, to fill their hearts and minds with that which, in some cases, looks like Jesus and sounds like Jesus but it's NOT Jesus.
What is a false prophet? ...one who falsely claims to bring messages directly from God...seems like today there is one on every corner....Let me clarify, I believe in the office of the prophet...but not everybody that hands you a business card that says 'prophet' is a 'prophet.' And the reality is 99% of these birds calling themselves prophets they prophesy out of their own mind and their own spirit. They're NOT CALLED OF GOD....when you bring 'God' into your pronouncement you are skating on thin ice...
False prophets are those who falsely claim to bring messages directly from God. They claim to bring the true message of salvation and biblical doctrine but their claims are false. Hence, they are false prophets. ....if we are deceived it's because we let ourselves be deceived....
Every false prophet and the false doctrine they teach, all of it, is accompanied by demon spirits...it is a FALSE ANOINTING, a FALSE HUMILITY... it is like a DRUG or a NARCOTIC that goes out to the people and if you don't know the Word of God and if you are not led by the Spirit and if you are not leaning upon the Holy Spirit to guard you and help it is like somebody injecting you with a drug and you will be sucked into it and you will be deceived.
...which come to you in sheeps clothing....this proclaims that one of the ways they're able to deceive the people is that they come in wearing the clothing of the sheep. They walk like us, talk like us, act like us, sing 'Amazing Grace,' tell everybody every Sunday morning 'Hold up your Bibles and repeat after me.' It's amazing they hold it up but they never read any text from it. They never use the Word of God to lay the foundation of the message but it's self-help...they look like us, they act like us, they look like the real thing. They hold up the Bible. They say religious things but what they say will not bring edification into the heart of the believer but instead it is a snare that will envelop them and snare them and pull them away from the true Messiah until they are following a false messiah.
...sheep are gentle. Sheep are pretty. Who doesn't like to look at sheep? Sheep are sweet. They'll come up to you. They're a little skittish but if you're calm, they will come right up to you and eat from your hand. But He [Jesus] said beware of false prophets which come to you in sheeps clothing, denoting their false humility, their gentle ways, their pleasing tones, their uplifting presentation. All designed to deceive the hearer....Deception is subtle. It's never 'overt,' it's 'covert.' It's hidden. It makes you think one thing when the reality is it's saying something else altogether. Their exterior presents a false presentation which leads to the inward of who they really are. Jesus said "beware of prophets which come to you in sheeps clothing but INWARDLY they are ravening wolves." The word 'ravening' speaks of VIOLENCE and GREED.
...Jesus is saying if you swallow their lies the end result is always DESTRUCTION. You are never leave neutral when you follow false teaching but it will lead you down a VIOLENT PATH...their lies will destroy you and steal your money...There is not single false prophet that is poor...Everyone of them has got more money than all of us put together in this church. Why? Because the people are giving it to them. All of this is done for one reason to separate you from the truth and from your hard earned dollar. A TRUE PROPHET OF GOD will never point you toward the dollar bill. He will point you toward righteousness....their secret desire is to lead you astray and ultimately to see you part with your hard earned money. How can we tell a false prophet? It's easy. Jesus told us by their fruits. [Read Galatians 5:22-23(verse 22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
(verse 23) Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.Galatians 5 verses 22-23 and Ephesians 5:9-10(verse 9) (For the fruit of the Spirit [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
(verse 10) Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.Ephesians 5 verses 9-10.] -Donnie Swaggart, Beware of False Prophets-
