. . .upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18

Some synonyms for "heady" are potent, powerful, provocative, spirituous, strong, powerful, stimulating, arousing, pigheaded, self-willed, contradictory, cantakerous, dogmatic.

"High-minded" means "having or showing high, exalted principles or feelings; arrogant; haughty."

Synonymous words for "highminded" are pious, pompous, scrupulous, proud, inflated, overblown, highfalutin,' grandiose, imposing. These are people who serve the flesh, worldly. They seek sexual pleasures of all sorts. They offer phony kindness and phony love because strive to please only themselves.

(verse 5) Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

People appear to be very spiritual, religious. They are church goers, counterfeits, imposters, fakes. They are the ones who know how to put on a great "holy" act in front of others. They can quote scripture where it is convenient but often with a great twist to it. They may be the ones who go dancing around in the isles of the church or flamboyantly throwing their arms and hands up as pretending to be worshipping God. These people put on a show or performance in front of others like they are the best Christian on earth and know the Bible better than anyone. They will USE GOD when it is convenient to make a business deal, to further their careers, or to manipulate people. They may carry a Bible around for appearances.

Mainstream Christianity today is teaching that we are all "little gods." That Jesus went to Hell and some even say that Jesus Christ was just a good teacher. Preachers are not telling people about Hell, or repentance. Sin is not being called sin anymore. The power of God is denied by unbelievers, not seeking the coming of the Lord, not feeling any conviction for their sins and repenting.

(verse 6) For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

We see this a whole lot within the church community today. People who have convinced others that they are religious and good Christian saints while they slither into other peoples lives and misuse and curve scripture to lead others deeper into sin.

(verse 7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Men insist on exploring areas of science in which are not meant for us to know. Man attempts to play God. Moving on further with this we see all sorts of religious activities and conventions going on where 'idolized teachers and preachers' are speaking to packed out buildings while they tell people whatever makes them 'feel good.'

Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. Romans 1:22-25

(verse 8) Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

God repeats this characteristic of having a reprobate mind again in Romans.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient. Romans 1:28

Man refuses the truth, especially the truths in the Bible. Again, they have made good to be evil and evil to be good serving only themselves. Man is falling for all sorts of fables that the devil has crept in to curve and bend the gospel.

The word "reprobate" is described as "a depraved, unprincipled, or wicked person; morally depraved, bad; to disapprove, condemn, or censure, (of God) to reject (a person), as for sin; exclude from the number of the elect or from salvation; (Christianity) destined or condemned to eternal punishment in hell, a damned person; that which is rejected on account of its own worthlessness (Jeremiah 6:30Bible quoteReprobate silver shall [men] call them, because the LORD hath rejected them.Jeremiah 6 verse 30; Hebrews 6:8Bible quoteBut that which beareth thorns and briers [is] rejected, and [is] nigh unto cursing; whose end [is] to be burned.Hebrews 6 verse 8; Gr. adokimos, "rejected"). This word is also used with reference to persons cast away or rejected because they have failed to make use of opportunities offered them (1 Corinthians 9:27Bible quoteBut I keep under my body, and bring [it] into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.1 Corinthians 9 verse 27; 2 Corinthians 13:5-7Bible quote(verse 5) Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

(verse 6) But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

(verse 7) Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.2 Corinthians 13 verses 5-7
)."

Some synonyms for "reprobate" are degenerate, improper, sinful, foul, incorrigible, base, corrupt, wrong, evil, iniquitous, vicious, vile, mean, black sheep, outcast, prodigal, reject, two-faced, bribable, crooked, debauched, double-dealing, faithless, unfaithful, unscrupulous, untrustworthy, treacherous, underhanded, shady, rotten, shameless.

(verse 9) But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all [men], as theirs also was.

The word "folly" is described as "the state or quality of being foolish; lack of understanding or sense, foolish action, practice, idea, etc.; absurdity, stupidity; rashness; mental weakness; unwise conduct or investment or expenditdure, wickedness, lewdness, madness; an extravagant building in the form of a castle, temple, etc, built to satisfy a fancy or conceit, often of an eccentric kind."

Some similar words to "folly" are craziness, idiocracy, lunacy, recklessness, impracticality, irrationality, senselessness, unsoundness, vice, dumb thing to do, dumb trick, preposterousness, farce, insanity, unreasonableness, crap, unwise, bunk, carrying-on, absurdity, frivolity, superficiality, nonsense, shallowness.

We see the folly of the counterfeit church right now. They are the ones following the false, demonic, satanic signs, wonders and miracles. False tongue speaking, false prophecies. The blind leading the blind listening to whatever their itching ears want to hear (2 Timothy 4:3-4Bible quote(verse 3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

(verse 4) And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.2 Timothy 4 verses 3-4
, John 12:40Bible quoteHe hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.John 12 verse 40). They are focused on the things of this world— money, fleshly pleasures, material things, mansions, etc.

(verse 10) But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

There are many who do know what the Bible says but they are rejecting God's Word. They pick and choose which scriptures do not offend them so as to comfort their sinful life and desires. But they are well versed to perform the 'appearance' of being a Christian.
