Mysterious Activity
The brain is a wonderful organ. It starts working the moment you get up and does not stop until you get into the office.
-Robert Frost-

- I stopped by Beth's office one morning to get some papers signed by the Chairman for some medical students. Beth was not in the office at the time so I asked another secretary when she would return so that I could stop back by. The secretary informed me that Beth was out of the office with the Chairman and was expected back maybe around noon or so. When I returned from my lunch, Beth left a very nasty note on my desk. When I approached Beth in her office regarding what this note was supposed to be about she raised up from her seat in anger and told me very loudly that I "was never to know where she and Dr. N were, when they were out, when they would be back..." etc. She stated that she does "everything" for him. I asked what this had to do with anything and she accused me of butting in her business when all I did was stop by her office to do a favor for some medical students. It was something that I did for them every month. It was never a problem before. I could not have cared less about what Beth was doing with the Chairman.
Well, it was shortly after I was forced out of my job that, [we will call] Hally, disappeared from the office and from the University. Hally stood up for me during the above situation. She too questioned Beth's bizarre behavior toward me over a completely legitimate job task. - From my very first day of working in the Department of Psychiatry, a co-worker began telling me about Beth's mentality and some other people who had left the department because of her. However, she mainly talked to me about a lady [we will call] Toni. For the entire six months I worked in this department I was being warned about what not to do or say or else I will receive Beth's revenge. Beth's secretary was also an accomplice in the underhanded and illegal activities of ridding Toni (and myself!).
- For some time there had been quite a bit of conflict between Beth, her secretary, and a husband and wife doctoral team at the Medical Center. I am not aware of details concerning this conflict except that Beth and the Chairman were a strong influence in the departure of these two doctors.
- The day after I lost my job (February 19, 1997), I called the Staff Assistance Department looking for answers to what I should do next. The person I spoke to was very kind and sympathetic with my situation. He told me that SEVEN OTHER PEOPLE have lost their jobs in the Department of Psychiatry in a similar manner to my own. He said that he "wished that someone would sue and win but. . .they just end up losing a lot of money, driving themselves crazy . . .and nobody ever wins." His advice to me was to just forget it and go on rather than going through all the trouble and expense of trying to fight the case.
- I personally spoke on the telephone with the Law Administrator for the State of Ohio. As I understood it, I was not the only person to be forced out of my job at OSU. He went on to tell me about another scenario that had recently been brought to his attention.
