What does the BIBLE say about Hypocrites

If you believe that being a hypocrite is okay... then you need to read God's perspective on that.

First, the dictionary definition of "hypocrite" is this:

• a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially a person whose actions belie stated beliefs,

• one who puts on a mask and feigns himself to be what he is not; a dissembler in religion. Our Lord severely rebuked the scribes and Pharisees for their hypocrisy (Matthew 6:2, 5, 16(verse 2) Therefore when thou doest [thine] alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
  
  (verse 5) And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
  
  (verse 16) Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.Matthew 6 verses 2, 5, 16). "The hypocrite's hope shall perish" (Job 8:13So [are] the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:Job 8 verse 13). The Hebrew word here rendered "hypocrite" rather means the "godless" or "profane," as it is rendered in Jeremiah 23:11For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD.Jeremiah 23 verse 11, i.e., polluted with crimes, (Easton's 1897 Bible Dictionary)
• a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion; a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings. (www.merriam-webster.com)

• a person who professes beliefs and opinions that he or she does not hold in order to conceal his or her real feelings or motives; an expression of agreement that is not supported by real conviction; the refusal to "...apply to ourselves the same standards we apply to others"
