No person, however, is born a Christian.
I find there is much confusion over the answer to that question today. The media often uses the term "Christian" simply as a category for a man or woman who belongs to a major world religion. Many people believe that someone is a Christian simply because that person attends church occasionally or was raised in a godly home. For some, it's no more than a box to check off on an application or survey. Some religions teach that you can be born into their faith.
To become a Christian, you must:
- ADMIT that you are a sinner in need of a Savior. Understand that you have been separated from God by sin from birth.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 (NKJV)For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.Romans 3 (KJV) verse 23
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me. Psalm 51:5

- REPENT of (turn away from) your sin.
For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance. Matthew 9:13b (NKJV)But go ye and learn what [that] meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.Matthew 9 (KJV) verse 13
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord. Acts 3:19
- BELIEVE that Christ died on the cross for your sin, and rose again from the dead.
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9 (NKJV)That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.Romans 10 (KJV) verse 9
- RECEIVE Christ by faith into your heart for the forgiveness of sin and the gift of eternal life.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23

The 5 Fundamentals of the Faith
These are 5 things you need to believe in order to be a Christian.
– the deity of Christ (John 1:1-3, 14(verse 1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(verse 2) The same was in the beginning with God.
(verse 3) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
(verse 14) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.John 1 verses 1-3, 14,
John 10:30-33(verse 30) I and [my] Father are one.
(verse 31) Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
(verse 32) Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

(verse 3) And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?
(verse 4) And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.
(verse 5) And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.
(verse 6) And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
(verse 7) But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
(verse 8) And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any [man]; for they were afraid.

Churches and preachers today are abandoning these necessary fundamentals. Anyone who throws out any one of these basics is following another religion.
What does the Bible say a Christian should be
Romans 12:9-21 tells us how to behave like a Christian.
9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
