What does the BIBLE say about Tithing
Tithes, Offerings, Donations, Giving, Money, the Tenth of our income
What is the preachers role?
The health and wealth prosperity is a MONEY SCAM! These preachers are trying to place people in bondage and under the old law by teaching Old Testament laws.
What televangelists do not want us to know is that they have been lying to the public in order to gain material wealth for themselves. We shared the false prosperity lie on this website for too many years before realizing how we had been deceived by the popular religious crowd. Mom and I were both victims of this prosperity gospel for many, many years. We have given THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of dollars to ministries in our lifetime including the Trinity Broadcasting Network and in return for all of our giving to these people they have kicked us to the curb! It has only been a few years ago that we began to wake up to the truth. We are angry as hell now that we realize how we were lied to for so many years and had fallen prey to these EXTORTIONISTS. People have got to wake up from this sleep of willingly giving money to thugs! I am finding some interesting studies of the scriptures about tithing and will share here as I learn myself.
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. Matthew 7:6Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.Matthew 7 verse 6

Genesis 14:17-24, Leviticus 27:30-34, Deuteronomy 14:22-29, Malachi 3:6-12, Matthew 23:23, Hebrews 7:8-9, 1 Thessalonians 2, Revelation 3:18
The Bible teaches that these prosperity preachers who teach prosperity through tithing are a burden to the people.
Tithing: A New Testament Commandment or Tradition of Men?

Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor [yet] of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ. But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children: So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God. 1 Thessalonians 2:6-9 (Read entire chapter)
There are only three people (or groups of people) in the Bible who tithed:
(1) Abraham: tithed only ONCE inhis entire life. He did not tithe on his wealth or normal income, but on the spoils of war.
(2) Israelites living under the Old Testament law: the Old Testament law commanded that Israelite FARMERS and RANCHERS bring the tenth portion of their CROPS and LIVESTOCK (agricultural products) to the Levites. The Israelites HAD MONEY (see Deuteronomy 14:22-29(verse 22) Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.
(verse 23) And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.
(verse 24) And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; [or] if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:
(verse 25) Then shalt thou turn [it] into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:
(verse 26) And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,
(verse 27) And the Levite that [is] within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.
(verse 28) At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay [it] up within thy gates:
(verse 29) And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which [are] within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.Deuteronomy 14 verses 22-29), but did NOT TITHE on it.
(3) the Pharisees: Jesus commended the Pharisees for tithing. The Pharisees were Old Testament Jews living under the law. They had money but did not tithe money. They tithed agricultural products.
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier [matters] of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Matthew 23:23
Preachers misuse Malachi 3:10Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].Malachi 3 verse 10 taking it out context. In this passage Malachi was speaking to the Israelites who were under the law. After the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ at Calvary we are NO LONGER under the law. We live under grace. See The Ten Commandments.
"Tithing" is not just about giving money. If you read the Bible then you find many stories and Scriptures which indicate that God expects us to be willing to give "everything" we have if we want to follow and be committed to Him. Justin Peters excellently explains tithing in his sermon "The Hurt of Healing".
You cannot just give God "money" and think that you are some great Christian because you gave to a good cause, or be giving money with the expectation that God will make you rich if you do. This 'prosperity' attitude is not biblical at all. The Bible never says that we will be rich in material possessions and money. This 'blessing' and 'multiplication' refers to our spiritual well being and that God will take care of our needs if we are willing to give to Him -in many different ways- which again includes things beyond monetary donations. God does not expect us to lay loads of money on some preacher so he can buy mansions and jet airplanes. What are YOU GIVING OF YOURSELF to the Lord? Like Abraham had done (Genesis 22:6-12(verse 6) And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid [it] upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
(verse 7) And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here [am] I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where [is] the lamb for a burnt offering?
(verse 8) And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
(verse 9) And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
(verse 10) And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
(verse 11) And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here [am] I.
(verse 12) And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only [son] from me.Genesis 22 verses 6-12), what are you willing to sacrifice on the table for the Lord?
