What does the BIBLE say about Pride and Arrogance
Page 2
These verses sound so much like the words of Lucifer when the Lord kicked him out of the heavens, and they also sound just like so many preachers, false prophets and church goers today. These people stand on platforms or behind pulpits, or they join these social clubs, and many stand before cameras appointing themselves into offices of the Lord exalting themselves while millions of dumb and blind biblically ignorant people worship them. The religious people today who are caught up in these end times heresies are believing Satan's lie that we are "gods" (Ezekiel 28:2Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart [is] lifted up, and thou hast said, I [am] a God, I sit [in] the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou [art] a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God.Ezekiel 28 verse 2) I would certain call this exalting oneself above the Lord God Almighty who created us and the universe.
Here is a "Letter to the Editor" from a Kentucky newspaper. I thought it was very well said so I have posted it here.
Some could use a reminder that all pride is sinful
"God, I thank you that I am not like other people - robbers, evildoers, adulterers - or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get."
It was drilled into me - pretty much from birth - that pride is a sin. Specifically, I was taught that:
To have pride in your possessions is a sin.
To have pride in your appearance is a sin.
To have pride in your popularity is a sin.
To have pride in your education is a sin.
To have pride in your job is a sin.
To have pride in your abilities is a sin.
In short, to have pride in anything you have accomplished is a sin.
Many of you have heard this sermon more than once; a few probably even said "Amen" - either silently or out loud - as you were reading.
But what a lot of people don't realize is that pride can also extend to other areas of life.
Consider the following:
To have pride in overcoming your circumstances in life is still pride - and pride is a sin.
To have pride in your ability as a preacher is still pride - and pride is a sin.
To have pride in the number of people you have saved is still pride - and pride is a sin.
In short, to have pride in how devout you are is still pride - and pride is a sin.
"But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but heat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'"
