The Tribulation Period

Page 2

(3) Famine

A scarcity of food, great depression. It will take a week's wages just for one loaf of bread.

(4) Widespread death on earth

Death from killings, hunger, and from the beasts of the earth.

(5) The cry of the martyrs

Those who have been slain for the Word of God and for the testimony they held. (Read the persecution of the saints.)

(6) Cosmic disturbances

Earthquakes, the sun becomes black as sackcloth of hair, the moon becomes as blood, and stars fall from heaven, and the sky recedes as a scroll. Kings of the earth, rich men, commanders, mighty men, slaves, and every free man all hide themselves in caves, rocks, and mountains. For the great day of His wrath has come and who is able to stand? (Read also Mysterious Booms.)

(7) This is a prelude of the seven trumpets to come

God gave seven angels to prepare themselves to sound the seven trumpets (Revelation 8 - Revelation 11).

The Seven Trumpets

(1) Vegetation struck

One third of all the trees and green grass was burned up.

The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. Revelation 8:7

(2) The seas struck

A great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea and one third of all the seas became blood. One third of all the creatures in the sea all died. One third of all the ships were destroyed.

And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. Revelation 8:8-9

(3) The water was struck

All the waters became bitter, they became as wormwood.

And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. Revelation 8:10-11

(4) The heaven was struck

One third of the sun, moon and the stars were darkened, they did not shine. One third of the day did not shine and became as night.

And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise. Revelation 8:12

(5) Locusts from the bottomless pit

The fifth angel opened the bottomless pit and smoke arose upon the earth and darkened the air. Then locusts came up and covered the earth. The locusts were given power like scorpions to sting and kill all those who did not have the seal of God on their forehead. The people of the earth were tormented for five months. They will desire to die but death will flee from them. The locusts are demonically controlled (Revelation 9:1-11).

And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.

And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. Revelation 9:7-10

(6) The angels from the River Euphrates

At the great River Euphrates four angels were released to kill one third of all mankind. Here the armies of the world meet, two hundred million. Some have red uniforms, some blue, and others yellow (Revelation 9:13-21).

And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.

By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt. Revelation 9:17-19

(7) This is the kingdom proclaimed

When this trumphet sounded there were voices in heaven saying,

Revelation 20:4

Are you ready to stand up for Christ in the face of death?

At the end of this tribulation period Jesus Christ will return to this earth once the Battle of Armageddon begins. This war will be the end of all wars. Then the Judgment begins. After the Judgment, then Eternity Begins. The Millennial Reign will begin (read Revelation 21).

Persecution

The cry of the martyrs. During this time the Bible says there will be persecution against those who come to Jesus. Christians will be imprisoned and beheaded for their faith in Christ.

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and [I saw] the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received [his] mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Revelation 20:4
