What does the BIBLE say about Anger

Jesus sure does sound angry in the following passages as well while he calls the religious crowd a "brood of vipers"!

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Matthew 3:7

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Matthew 3:7 (NKJV)

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Matthew 12:34

[Ye] serpents, [ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Matthew 23:33

Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell? Matthew 23:33 (NKJV)

Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Luke 3:7

Then he said to the multitudes that came out to be baptized by him, "Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Luke 3:7 (NKJV)

When Anger Becomes Sin

Unjustifiable Anger

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Ephesians 4:26-27

Is this a contradiction? No. Anger becomes sin only when people hold grudges and do not forgive people and then they allow this anger to fester within themselves which will eventually drive a person to commit more sin. Holding grudges and allowing one's mind to continuously think upon and consume the anger gives a foothold to the devil because then as the anger festers so does hatred. As hatred festers other evils follow. The devil will play on that and begin to whisper lies in your ears until you find yourself carrying out acts that you never believed you would ever do.

Forgiveness is necessary. But forgiveness does not mean bowing to sin or some wrong doing. Forgiveness does not mean compromise. Read more about what the Bible says regarding forgiveness.
