False Teacher Matt Dentino

Probably the earliest incarnation of Soundgarden was a short-lived cover band called the Shemps, which was founded by Thayil's roommate, a guitarist named Matt Dentino. Chris Cornell, then nineteen, had started out as a drummer, but he wanted more musical input than drummers were typically allowed. "I always figured I would just end up being such a good drummer that the best band in the world would ask me to be in it," says Cornell. "I guess I lost that attitude pretty quick." Deciding to try singing, Cornell answered Dentino's vocalist-wanted ad. When Cornell joined the Shemps, Yamamoto was playing bass; he subsequently quit and was replaced by Thayil.

"When I met Chris," says Thayil, "my first impression was that he was some guy who just got out of the navy or something. He had real short hair and was dressed real slick. He had a great voice -- even though we were doing shitty material." As Thayil tells it, Dentino was "obsessed with people who died," and the Shemps' repertoire consisted almost entirely of Doors, Hendrix, Otis Redding and Buddy Holly tunes. Another band that suddenly hit it big was Soundgarden whose lead singer Chris Cornell has been a very influential person in rock for decades. There were also The Melvins, Pearl Jam and Mother Lovebone among others. Years later Chris Cornell would team up with the son of a famous Kenyan leader who married a CIA operative.

This operative attended Harvard university much like OBAMA did (meaning, he spent the time fighting overseas) and once he graduated with a Harvard degree, he was un-hirable and immediately moved out to LA to become a successful rock guitarist. His name is Tom Morello and he was the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine and later teamed up with Chris Cornell to form Audioslave. They were brought together by one of the biggest producers in the history of modern music, Rick Rubin who has been a crack CIA guy for decades now. He started Def Jam records and was originally used to sign upcoming MK ULTRA’s rap artists to his labels. Eventually, he became record producer extrodinaire and helped create some of the most influential records of our time.
